The Aquarium Journal was run by the San Francisco Aquarium Society. It was "slick" rather than the usual journals by Clubs which were produced on duplicating machines. The Society had also the ideal meeting place - Steinhart Aquarium in Golden Gate Park. In 1964 the Journal had been published for 35 years The journal had in past three professional Icthyolgists as editors Alvin Seale, Wilbert M. Chapman, & George S.Myers. It had at least one icthyologist on it`s editorial board- Herald, Weitzman, Atz & Tollett.

Hugo Mulertt was an early aquarist who in the early 1880`s first published a magazine called The Aquarium which title was later taken on by several Aquarium Societies, namely the Societies of New York, Brooklyn, Chicago, & Philadelphia. Then William Innes then took on the title afresh and it had a world wide distribution |
